[Humans of ISC67] Participant Edition: Chau Loan

#1 Please introduce yourself!

My name is Chau Loan. I'm from Vietnam, but currently studying at Nagoya University as a master's student.

#2 What is your favorite thing about your country/city? Why?

I am from Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, which is located in the northern part of the country. Personally, the favorite thing I adore about Hanoi is the unpredictability. The unexpected of Hanoi could be seen through how the traffic works, in which people do not seem to follow any traffic rules, but rarely collisions occur. People from other countries could also be surprised to come across bars, pubs, and very modern buildings integrated into a quaint and traditional neighborhood of historical richness. Even local people never cease to be amazed when they discover a serene and chilling spot hidden somewhere in the frenetic city.

#3 What made you want to join ISC67 and your table? What would you like to achieve through the conference?

I joined ISC because I thought it would be an opportunity for me to exchange ideas with students around the world to address some social issues. Participating in the conference is also one of my last chances to participate in a project in my academic life in Japan. I chose table 5 about participatory urban planning because I am interested in the inclusive aspect of urban development how city dwellers can be involved in the urban innovation process. I am excited to attend research and discussion activities concerning urban planning with other members to offer solutions to enhance people-oriented cities by applying my knowledge, either connected to my major or through study sessions in the conference.
