Please Introduce yourself !
Hi there! My name is Rachel and I’m studying Global Business at Musashino University. Last year, I was really privileged to be chosen as a Malaysian participant in ISC63. I could see that being in ISC gave me the opportunity to create actual change in this world. And so, I’m back as a Table Chief in ISC64 with the topic: ‘21stCentury Education’. ISC opened the way for me to get to know more like-minded individuals not only in Japan, but around the world. I was also able to hold profound and meaningful discussions with students who hold their own views in the topic. It was truly an unforgettable experience.
What is your Table Topic?
What do you think about your table topic so far and what is the goal of your table?
My Table Topic talks on ‘21stCentury Education’. It addresses the current education system in light of the dynamic and disruptive working environment. The fundamental question that we wish to answer is this: “What are the skills needed to thrive in the future, that can be implemented in education systems and taught to primary school children?” Focus will be on Japan’s education system first. The goal of this table is to answer the fundamental question as stated. Most stakeholders of education systems should be satisfied with the propositions. The final proposal will be given to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
I personally chose this topic because I’m worried about our future generation. Being in the current education system, I see that there is more that can be made to it. To be frank, education systems need constant reformation in response to the ever-changing working environment. Although there have been countless education reforms made, the desired outcomes are taking a bit too long to happen. Why is this? As such, I chose this as my table topic, to invite students from all around the world who share the same concerns, to find a solution that can be feasibly implemented.
